The Sports Racer Challenge raced with the CSRG Corkscrew Challenge event at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca this weekend. Once again we raced in their Group 4/5 consisting of sports racers, FBs, and FJs, which made for a good sized race group and lots of close racing. Saturday morning started off with a one hour fog delay as happens pretty frequently with the summer races at Laguna Seca, but once the skies cleared we had warm sunny skies for our afternoon points race. Although the turnout was missing a few of our series regulars, we had racers in all five Classes with no DNFs, so we’ll call that a win! There were certainly a few “interesting” mechanical fixes to get a couple cars through the weekend, but you’ll have to join one of our Saturday evening bench racing soirees to hear about Honey Hoogs and U-pattern Capone…
A warm welcome goes out to Lindsey Hebert, a new competitor to the series who raced with us in her dad’s DB2. She did a great job in a new car to her and dropped her lap times session after session. We hope to see her racing with us again in the future.
And of course we cannot forget our new paddock mascot, Leo.
